Frequently Asked Questions (FAQS)
Why choose holistic?
Our body is a one part system. Holistic dentistry recognizes that the mouth is connected to the rest of our body and takes it under great consideration when rendering treatment options, which includes nutritional choices, proper hydration and stress management.
Why choose biomimetic?
Biomimetic bonding techniques allow for the conservation and preservation of the healthy tooth structure, in turn reducing the need for root canals and crowns by up to 90%.
Why is Amalgam bad for us?
Amalgam is a neurotoxin – toxic chemical that accumulates in our brain tissues and kidneys over time. We are bombarded with heavy metals and toxic chemicals in our polluted air, water and GMO foods. Why not give your body a break and remove at least the obvious toxins, so that it at least has a chance at self-healing. Proper removal, preceded and followed by detoxification is also considered and discussed.
What’s the deal with Fluoride?
Most people are already aware that water fluoridation may not be good for us in the long term – dental and much worse bone fluorosis is on the rise in children. But how about toothpastes and fluoride treatments following the dental cleaning – topical fluoride application? Fluoride is a toxic byproduct from the aluminium, phosphoric acid and phosphate fertilizer industries. It will arrest rampant decay but at a cost of premature aging since it damages enzymes – this affects the immune system, digestive system, respiratory system, blood circulation, liver, kidneys, thyroid and brain function. Fluoride can also cause hyperactivity and a lower IQ in children since it is clinically proven to calcify our pineal gland.
A great alternative to post hygiene cleaning fluoride treatment is Oxygen Ozone microbaric trays for caries arrestment in high caries risk patients. Also, you can substitute your conventional toothpaste for naturally detoxifying calcium bentonite clay infused with essential oils and let nature’s pure trace minerals support the healing process of the mouth and the whole body.
What’s the role of Reiki Healing in holistic dentistry?
While in the dental chair, a reiki session may be requested and is administered by practitioner placing the hands on the part of the patient body (most commonly done head and upper torso). The healing session is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stressed and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. A reiki practitioner is trained/initiated to be a conductor of such life force energy and by placing the hands on or near the patient’s body is able to facilitate the healing and overall relaxation.
